Sarah Fulham, Director of Domestic Abuse at Hestia; Rushanara Ali MP; and Patrick Ryan, Chief Executive at Hestia.

Hestia was delighted to welcome Rushanara Ali MP to visit our domestic abuse refuge in Tower Hamlets, which specialises in support for women and children from South Asian backgrounds.

Hestia currently provides 26 domestic abuse refuges across eight London boroughs, as well as community-based support and prevention initiatives such as the charity’s ‘Safe Spaces’ within high street pharmacies and banks. Last year over 3,800 women and children were supported by Hestia domestic abuse services.

During the visit, Rushanara Ali MP was able to meet many of the families currently living at the refuge and to hear more about the specialist support for children that Hestia provides, including our dedicated Children & Families Workers.

She also heard more about Hestia’s commitment to ‘psychologically informed physical environments’ (PIPEs) as an essential part of the recovery process.
