The printed edition of today’s Financial Times newspaper features a new campaign from Hestia’s Everyone’s Business team, highlighting the crucial role that employers can play in tackling domestic abuse.

The campaign creatively illustrates the hidden impact of domestic abuse, which can often be misconstrued or missed by employers. It also shines a light on the opportunity workplaces have to be a lifeline on this issue.

The Everyone’s Business team at Hestia has partnered with over 250 employers, reaching more than 700,000 employees with workplace policies, training and specialist support.

Alessia Bianco, Head of Everyone’s Business at Hestia, said:

“The inspiration behind this campaign came from countless conversations we have had with employers who didn’t believe that domestic abuse affected their organisation… until something awful happened. With one in four of us in the UK now experiencing domestic abuse in our lifetimes, we know that domestic abuse affects every organisation. It doesn’t pause during working hours. We hope the campaign will inspire more employers to get in touch and start a conversation about how they can play a part in preventing domestic abuse.”

The campaign advert coincides with ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence’ a campaign by UN Women and others which calls for global solidarity to end violence against women and girls everywhere.

Hestia has also called on the Government to fully recognise the cost-effective and critical role that businesses can play in preventing violence and supporting survivors, including at the Home Affairs Select Committee evidence session earlier this year.

This campaign was created pro bono thanks to generous support from the Financial Times, Social Business Trust and its corporate partners.
