Domestic abuse is taken very seriously in Newham. Hestia provides emotional and practical support to those experiencing domestic abuse in Newham and wider communities. Nobody should live their life in fear of physical, financial, sexual or emotional abuse.

 

What services do we offer in Newham?

• Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) - offer support to individuals and families identified as being at significant risk of harm.

• Specialist IDVAs – provide tailored support to those at risk of harmful practices such as forced marriage, FGM, honour‑based abuse, and multiple disadvantages including disability, mental health challenges, or substance misuse.

• Domestic and Sexual Abuse caseworkers provide emotional and practical support to those experiencing domestic abuse. 

• The co-ordination of MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference) offering a partnership response to addressing the safety of all high-risk survivors and taking action against those who abuse.

• The Alessia Project (supporting those who sell sex, are sexually exploited or trafficked).

The Alessia Project

The Alessia Project is a commissioned independent service dedicated to supporting those who sell sex, who are sexually exploited or trafficked in Newham.

The project's aim is to empower and support people to make informed choices about their lives.

We promote a multi-agency working approach and our ethos is in line with Violence against Women & Girls’ (VAWG) values. Our practice is trauma informed and anti-oppressive, supporting individuals to access relevant services, from financial to therapeutic.
