Meet the artist of: 'Volume Zero: Trilogy' Hestia1970 · Volume zero trilogy by AVJESP "I'm an artist whose work explores the complex interplay between visibility, silence, and justice. Through mixed media, I give voice to those who have been silenced, especially survivors of modern slavery. My seen and heard series draws from lived realities using symbolic layers of red tape, legal documents, and sound waves to confront systematic erasure while offering a visual path towards healing and hope. My motivation for this trilogy has been personal. I felt the need for a change to make my audience aware of us, that we exist in plain sight. Volume Zero - In a world that moves too fast to notice, Volume Zero captures the reality of survivors who are visible yet silenced. A woman partially faded into the background stares directly at us, her mouth forcibly covered by hands labelled freedom, a cruel irony. The oppressive hand represents the justice system, a system that labels her as free while binding her to policies that deny her true liberation. Red tape and legal documents wrap her body, echoing the weight of bureaucratic injustice. She is not voiceless; her voice has simply been set to zero. Emerging through Silence - A woman rises through a flood of silence, her screams shattering into glass sound waves. Her hair grows into roots filled with hidden stories and an unseen hand lifts her from the flood, a gesture of solidarity, love, and survival. Around her, faces of women symbolizing other survivors and her ancestors, smiling at her as she's escaping from the shackles that they never could, paving the way for them to survive. This is a portrait of emergence, resilience, and the struggle to be truly seen and heard, symbolizing the fragile beginning of freedom and connection. Echoes of Freedom - In this piece, the remnant of captivity dissolves. Red tape unravels legal documents. Roots turn to blooming flowers. The woman stands freer, not fully healed, but amplified. Her voice sends echoes across space, golden and powerful. Her story, once silenced, now ripples outward. Around her, faces finally turn to listen. She is seen. She is heard. She is free. I felt very vulnerable sharing this trilogy as I still struggle to feel seen and heard, and I'm battling it every day. Even though it can get hopeless, I want to say don't give up. There is light at the end of the tunnel." Manage Cookie Preferences
