Hestia’s specialist domestic abuse refuges for women with multiple needs Alongside our domestic abuse refuges, Hestia also provides safe, temporary accommodation for single women who have multiple needs or disadvantages, alongside domestic abuse. It might mean you have experienced one or more other challenges such as addiction or substance use, mental health, homelessness or past trauma, which can make it even more difficult to deal with domestic abuse. When you arrive at one of these specialist refuges, you’ll be warmly welcomed and shown your private room. Kitchens and bathrooms are shared with other residents. All our homes are designed to be warm, safe environments where you can begin your recovery journey. A member of our experienced team will work with you to develop a safety and support plan which matches your individual needs and aspirations. Our approach means we look at the whole person, taking all of your needs into account. Our aim is to work alongside you, providing support and practical assistance for you to gain the independence and confidence to start rebuilding your future. Our refuge team will work with you to provide a bespoke domestic abuse safety plan to keep you physically safe. This will including provide tech safety guidance to keep your devices and online accounts secure. Our support will be tailored to your needs and may include developing independent living skills, support to access health and wellbeing services, support to find long term housing with the help of a resettlement worker, and practical support to access things like welfare benefits, access to legal advice and more. While in refuge you will have access to: Specialist therapeutic support to help you begin the process of recovering from the trauma of abuse. Translation services. Social activities including celebrations for cultural events. Workshops and opportunities for learning, training or volunteering.
