Developing Futures - Frequently Asked Questions for Mentees Q: Who is Developing Futures for? A: Developing Futures is for 18–24 year olds from ethnically diverse backgrounds who are experiencing mental health challenges and want support with education, work, or life goals. A :You’ll be matched with a mentor who understands your journey. They’ll offer one-to-one guidance, help you set achievable goals, and support you with: • Confidence and motivation • Mental health and wellbeing • Education and career direction • Building positive habits and resilience Q: How does the mentoring work? A: The programme lasts 12 weeks and is completely online. Once you have registered your interest, we will contact you and match you with a mentor that is right for you. You can connect with your mentor through text, phone, or video calls — whatever feels most comfortable for you. You’ll usually chat once a week, but it’s flexible depending on your needs and schedule. Q: Who are the mentors? Our mentors are skilled trained volunteers from a range of professional and personal backgrounds. They’re DBS-checked, experienced, and passionate about helping young people reach their potential. Many mentors have faced their own challenges, so they truly “get it.” Q: Do I have to pay? A: No, Developing Futures is completely free. Q: Do I need to live in London? A: Yes, the programme currently supports young people who live in London. Q: What if I don’t know what I want to do yet? A: That’s okay!
