The Mental Health Integrated Service is run by Hestia, and we work within the Barnet Community Mental Health Team. We work closely with the community to improve access to mental health services, develop local resources, and address health inequalities.

Who are we?

We are a team of Community Engagement Practitioners who support people with their mental health wellbeing and connect them with local resources.

Our staff mostly work with people on a one to one basis. The service is part of the NHS, but we are not medical staff. We do not provide therapy or prescribe medication. Instead, we help people to connect with what is meaningful to them and provide ongoing mental health support.

Who we support:

We support people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and can work with people in the community. The service cannot accept self-referrals. If you feel this is support that could help you, discuss it with your GP, care coordinator, or another professional working with you.

What do we do?

Some examples of the work we do:

  • Building relationships: We can link you up with local groups where you can meet new people and feel part of a community.
  • Activities and hobbies: We can help you find new hobbies and activities.
  • Health and wellbeing: We can help you find exercise you enjoy and develop healthy habits.
  • Practical support: We can go with you to appointments or the first session of a new group.
  • Training and volunteering: We can support you to explore skills and development.
  • Housing and benefits: We are not housing or benefits experts, but we can offer basic support, such as help filling in forms. We can connect you with other services for more complex issues.

How long does the support last?

We work with people on individuals' needs basis. We will aim to support you during a 6-month engagement, but this can be reviewed and discussed with your Community Engagement Practitioner, based on your preference
