Are you receiving secondary mental health care in the London Boroughs of Barnet or Haringey and want to find good work to support your recovery journey? Our Barnet and Haringey IPS Employment Support programme is just what you need. It’s a free and supportive programme designed to help you find and sustain paid employment as part of your mental health recovery journey, using the internationally recognised IPS (Individual Placement Support) model.

 

Who is this service for?

  • You’re 18 or over and residents of, or registered with a GP, in Barnet or Haringey.

  • You are currently unemployed and suffering with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or have other complex needs and are receiving secondary mental health support through your local NHS team.

  • You’re looking for tailored career support to find, secure, and stay in work that suits you.

 

How does it work?

Our expert Employment Specialist will meet you regularly to identify any barriers to employment, create career goals and aspirations, and then regularly work with you towards achieving them. Working with a dedicated Employment Specialist alongside your mental health and/or social care practitioner, you will be offered:

  • Support to find the right job

  • Help preparing a great CV

  • Advice on effective job searching

  • Help to improve interview skills

  • Support approaching local employers

  • Advice on how work might impact benefits

  • In-work support after job start

  • Help to retain existing employment

  • Help to boost confidence, self-esteem and motivation to work

Once you are in work, we will continue to support you for as long as you need. We have an excellent track record in helping people with complex needs find work, and our Employment Specialists are always ready to help.
