The Digital Inclusion Programme is a range of services which aim to increase service users’ access to devices and data and support them in developing their skills to get online. Alongside offering online and face to face workshops, the programme includes the Digital Champion service, where trained volunteers enable those who use our services to increase their digital skills.

The aim is to build upon people’s fundamental knowledge, with support being adapted to the needs of the individual. Skills taught can include; teaching someone how to get online, send an email, join a video call or begin shopping online whilst also being mindful of staying safe on the internet. By improving digital skills, service users can stay in contact with friends and family, prepare for work or access other services that they may need. The Digital Inclusion Program gives people the knowledge to overcome barriers in an increasingly digital world.

About 6 months ago I was feeling quite low, so I phoned the Hillingdon Cove for support. During my time there I had 3 one to one sessions over 3 weeks with a Peer Support worker who was very helpful. He was a lovely lad and didn’t push me into anything, we mainly just spoke, and he pointed me in the right direction I suppose. I couldn’t wish for somebody better.

It was my Peer Support Worker who suggested that I try the Digital Inclusion Programme because I wanted to learn how to use my laptop and phone a bit better. I met with a really nice woman who had the expertise and made sure that she explained everything to me because I had the tech, but I just didn’t know how to use it.

The Digital Inclusion Programme has improved my knowledge, I try to learn something new every day – everyone ought to.

She taught me beyond what I could do before, and now I have the skills that that I need. I use my phone to stay in contact with family – I now have email, WhatsApp and messenger and I use my computer to watch things, especially on rainy days! The Digital Inclusion Programme has improved my knowledge, I try to learn something new every day – everyone ought to.
